FEATURED PROJECTS
Our projects, Our passion
Ice District
City Image Signs had the opportunity to supply & install multiple signs at the ICE District development in Edmonton in collaboration with One Properties, The Katz Group, and The Canadian Brewhouse Group of Companies.
Signage included illuminated Ice District fascia signs, custom push-thru tenant panels, projecting and flush mounted parking lot signs, and both exterior and interior signage for The Canadian Icehouse, The Banquet Bar & Plantlife Cannabis.
Significant “behind the scenes” efforts went into the execution of the signage; including dedicated engineering partnerships to ensure compliant and efficient fabrication & mounting specs; providing colour samples to ensure brand protection for optimal day and night illumination; coordination of installation accessibility to the plaza, the parkade, and required road closures; and working with the building electricians to ensure power was brought to the best location available throughout the base build stage of the project.
The main exterior sign is one that City Image Signs is extremely proud to have executed on, as it was intricately designed and built in-house for The Canadian Icehouse. The sign features channel letters that are both face & halo lit with white and blue LEDs, and the letters are mounted to a carrier box that truly shines with the reflecto discs shimmering in the sun.

The Calgary Farmers’ Market & Greenwich Village
CIS worked with Melcor Develpments on the signage for both the Calgary Farmers’ Market and Greenwich Village located in Calgary, AB. The Calgary Farmers’ Market Building Signage located in Melcor’s Greenwich Village Development are like no other building signs within Alberta, and perhaps even the country as a whole.
The mammoth 10’5″H x 145’W LED illuminated CALGARY FARMERS’ MARKET channel letters offer a tip of the cap to the now famous Public Market Centre signage in Seattle through their powerful, yet elegant presence above the market. These towering letters not only serve well in welcoming visitor’s to the newly built 54,000sq/ft facility, but paired with (5) additional non-illuminated cabinet signs measuring from 16-18’H x 11′-12’W, these monumental building signs also serve as an unmistakable icon for transient traffic along Highway 1 and Stony Trail alike.
CIS also worked in partnership with Melcor Developments on the execution of various branded signage for Greenwich in Calgary. Our scope of work included two (2) double-sided pylon signs and two (2) circle-shaped channel letters for the building.
In addition, we worked with Melcor Developments to create their signage criteria package for tenant signage. We have a trusted relationship with the developer and they value our expertise in the signage industry.
Greenwich is a master-planned, mixed-use community designed for walkability, and City Image Signs is proud to have contributed to the iconic signage for the complex.
Westblock Glenora
A 3.4 acre mixed-use site, developed as an urban village combined with luxury condo living & retail space on the edge of downtown Edmonton.
City Image Signs (CIS) successfully bid on and secured the contract for the signage at West Block Glenora, a project issued by Cantiro, previously known as inhouse by Beaverbrook.
The scope of the project was for the complete manufacture, supply, delivery, and installation of all the signage at the site, as detailed in the Design Intent Specification Drawings. BOND Creative initially developed the signage concept designs, and after CIS secured the bid, we analyzed these concepts and devised a strategy for executing on the project.
As the selected signage contractor, CIS created detailed shop drawings that illustrated all materials, configurations, dimensions, finishes, anchorages, connections, and other specific details for every type of sign. We collaborated with a certified engineer to provide stamped structural drawings to ensure the safety of our signage implementation. The signage project encompassed both exterior and interior solutions, as well as tenant identification signs.
CIS gained significant recognition for their work on the signage at Westblock Glenora by clinching the top spot in the Sign Systems category at the 2020 BOCSIes awards, hosted by Sign Media Canada alongside the Sign Association of Canada (SAC-ACE). Furthermore, this project secured the third-place award in the category for best exterior design/shop-fabricated, illuminated signage from a small workshop, as acknowledged by The Signs of the Times’ annual global competition.

The Roxy Theatre
The Roxy Theatre experienced a devastating fire on January 13, 2015 that completely wiped out the building. City Image Signs is extremely proud to have worked in close partnership with the Theatre Network on the reconstruction of the Roxy Theatre with the iconic signage that projects from the building.
The dimensions of the main exterior sign is 31ft high x 15ft deep x 4ft wide. The sign’s projecting body is crafted from aluminum tube frames, coated in black, and divided into four modular sections. The frame extrusion secures the Lexan plastic, also painted black, with aluminum flat bars utilized for mounting the white LEDs and power supplies. Clear Lexan plastic with second-surface yellow vinyl graphics is combined with black acrylic letters affixed to the Lexan’s front. Aluminum tubing is joined to create deliberate gaps and is painted black. Z-clips are used according to the engineer’s specifications. An interesting aspect of this sign is that the “X” and “Y” are visible from the interior space, which illuminates the stairwell with the iconic shade of yellow! We also worked with the group on interior wayfinding solutions and a donor wall.
Re-building such a beacon of 124th Street has been nothing short of remarkable, and we are privileged to have had the opportunity to bring the quality, integrity, and respect to detail that the signage for this paramount landmark deserves.
